Lytchett Matravers is blessed with another venture whose interest is driving much larger buses than ours; so we often go for a relaxing trip with them! This is their latest offering, if you are local, phone Jo! They do not have a web site yet.
The beautiful 200 acres of stunning gardens at Exbury, nr. Southampton, is the Club’s garden trip this Spring. We’ll see the famous Rhododendrons and Azaleas, for which Exbury is famous, at their peak. Many other types of plantings are also to be enjoyed, just by wandering the many well surfaced pathways. For those that do not wish to walk far there are the options of a buggy ride and the Steam Train, at a small additional cost. (c.£3.00). The train journey takes you to a separate part of the garden which is not otherwise seen.
Lunch can be enjoyed in the excellent restaurant and plants can be purchased at the garden centre. We’ll then drive into the New Forest to enjoy an afternoon cream tea at Burley, which is included in the cost, but can be opted out of for a saving of £4.00 – (our bulk buying discount saves us 50p. per cream tea, off the normal cost of £4.50, if ordered in advance).
Leaving Lytchett Village Hall at 09.00 on 26 April, to arrive at c.10.15, we’ll leave at 14.00 to visit a New Forest tea room for an included cream tea. We expect to return home by 17.30. £24 including Exbury Gardens’ entrance and your cream tea. Please reply and let me know if you’d like to come with us, or not, to avoid the dreaded follow-up phone call and gain house points. Please also let me know if you move, change you phone number or email address or, perish the thought, you no longer wish to be informed of trips.
Best wishes, JoP
